Residential Employment

Rootstock Retreat is looking to welcome 1 full-time, live in resident to serve this dynamic enterprise, tend the land here, help build our conscious community, and an integrated, generative life together.

Rootstock Retreat is a small healing sanctuary, wood-fired bathhouse, transformational gathering space, Air Bnb and home for Beana Bern’s private practice which is dedicated to helping people restore themselves to wholeness with the support of elemental healing, plant medicine, conscious community, and creative self-expression. Built in 5D, Rootstock is a new paradigm business dedicated to building new architecture for community building, generative friendships, healing as activism, and recreating recreation. Rootstock is a thriving year-round business in need of 1, maybe 2, devoted, hard working employees/stewards/fractal family members to help hold, help, and support this magic container.

Energy, skill sets, work ethic, communication styles, ethos, intuition, capacity, our chemistry, and ultimately our shared desire to spend time together will determine the shape and timeline our potential collaboration will take.

Here are some essential characteristics of the right individual:

  • You identify as a “people person” and enjoy sharing warm smiles, helpful hands, and supportive energy to all beings you greet here. Hospitality and service should rank high on the list of things you love and value. Rootstock is in service to people as well as the Earth and you need to like them and care for them here.

  • You have a strong and pure work ethic. This means you take pride in your work, you take care of your tools, you’re able to give and receive feedback, and you take genuine pleasure in a job well done.

  • You are flexible and able to navigate ambiguity and change with grace. Changing schedules, changing weather, cancellations, require us to stay tuned to a calendar and each other and to change our plans frequently.

  • You value conscious communication and enjoy the hard work of sharing, listening, learning and growing. Collaboration often results in conflict and, at Rootstock, we don’t avoid conflict at all but we do aim to make it generative and keep it kind.

  • You thrive in the elements and enjoy dirt on your hands and clothes. Rain, snow, sleet, black flies, heat,…whatever the world is doing, we do our work in it. You genuinely need to want to spend more time outside than in to enjoy the work we do here.

  • You don’t need a dog to be at home in your life. Rootstock is a dog-free vortex and, though we love and praise them elsewhere, they are not destined to live (or linger) here.

We recommend that you read more about our Mission & Values and our Rootstock Residency to get more detail on how we roll and you’ll want to feel into whether or not you feel resonance with all that too. If you’re still wanting to go deeper, here’s a little more detail on the job:

  • Hospitality/Air Bnb/Campground Management

  • Bathhouse Maintenance & Management

  • Gardens/Grounds

  • Food Prep & Preservation

  • Organizational/Administrative

We are looking for a full time residential employee to commit to 40 hours per week from April - November of 2023. Longer for the right human.

  • A beautiful 16x20 off-grid tiny house will be provided at a subsidized rent of $500/month or 25 hours of work with parking for 1 vehicle.

  • 150 hours of work (~40 hours/week) will be scheduled and paid for with a monthly salary that will be agreed upon prior to your arrival. Payment will be subject to taxes and will be paid monthly via direct deposit.

  • Residential employees will enjoy access to all of Rootstock’s amenities - bathhouse, outdoor kitchen, sacred spaces, Bunkhouse lounge, gardens and grounds.

  • Residential employees will have priority access to any and all Rootstock events and receive a Fractal Family Discount for paid gatherings.

  • Residents wanting to hold space, teach, guide, or otherwise activate the hill for their own offerings (outside of their scheduled work week) may have the opportunity to generate additional income, assuming their proposed events align and are viable.

  • Residents with unique skill sets (carpentry/permaculture/etc) may be able to co-create a residency schedule that focuses their attention here.

Details around compensation, scheduling, guests, and all that jazz will be covered during the interview process. This is a very unique place and Beana is a very unique person…this is more of a lifestyle experiment than a ‘job’ and it’ll be helpful if that’s appeals to you.
