“And don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter. It's quiet, but the roots are down there riotous.” Rumi

Microdosing Earth Medicine: A Seasonal Practice in Whole Living is a profoundly impactful and transformative microdosing protocol that provides individuals looking for healing a well worn path to wander. This three month curriculum empowers anybody looking to microdose psilocybin a guide, framework, and community to do so effectively, respectfully, and authentically.

Join Beana Bern for this intensive immersion into the Medicine of the North, the Medicine of the Earth, and the Medicine of Yourself and come navigate this winter in a new way.

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.

To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,

and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,

and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Wendell Berry

Winter can be a very challenging time of year. Dark days, cold nights, and the desaturated landscape can stir up feelings of deep melancholy, stuckness, and even fear. The fallow time of the year can feel claustrophobic for some and isolating for others and, though it’s challenging, it is also essential for life to bloom again in Spring.

The contraction that follows the expansion, Winter is the exhale to Summer’s inhale.

It draws us in, close to ourselves and one another, asks us to hibernate - maybe even fast - and applies the pressure of ice, wind, snow, cold, darkness, and hardness to help us soften, surrender, and ultimately grow stronger and more resilient as people.

Whether you live in the North Country or even the Northern Hemisphere, in a rural or urban landscape, winter is a season that comes for all of us and learning how to winter is essential to learning how to live.

Why Earth Medicine?

The 21st Century on Planet Earth is an intense place to be. The single serving, plastic-wrapped, convenience culture of ‘pop this pill and feel better’ has revealed its limitations and both doctors and their patients are coming into consciousness about the limitations of pharmaceuticals and our Western medical industrial complex. People all over the world are looking for relief and new paradigms for healing and the organic intelligence of psilocybin is among many sacred Earth Medicines that has revealed it’s potential for helping humanity.

Studies are happening all over the world revealing over and over again the efficacy of psilocybin to treat depression, anxiety, addiction, OCD, eating disorders, and more. Though still illegal on a Federal level, legalization and decriminalization efforts for psilocybin are happening rapidly and successfully around the country, with 9 cities decriminalized, one state legalized, and many more bills in legislatures across the US, including in the brave little state of Vermont.

The organic, adaptogenic, and mysterious nature of mushroom medicine is radically safe, non-addictive, has little or no side effects, and is incredibly impactful if worked with in a good way.

"Think of the brain as a hill covered in snow, and thoughts as sleds gliding down that hill. As one sled after another goes down the hill a small number of main trails will appear in the snow. And every time a new sled goes down, it will be drawn into preexisting trails, almost like a magnet. In time it becomes more and more difficult to glide down the hill on any other path or in a different direction. Think of psychedelics as temporarily flattening the snow. The deeply worn trails disappear, and suddenly the sled can go in other directions, exploring new landscapes and, literally, creating new pathways."

-Mendel Kaelen, Dutch postdoc in the Imperial lab

What’s a ‘good way’ to work with Earth Medicine?

While many are making leaps and bounds with the support of entheogens, the unfortunate reality is that some practitioners and protocols are still working with this medicine in a colonizing and extractive way. The promise of ‘effortless healing’ or ‘a miracle cure’ deny the truth of what the mushrooms require and deliver.

Working with Earth Medicine in a ‘good way’ means in a reciprocal, reverent, and honest way. It means giving as much to the medicine as you ask of it. It means learning how to live well off the medicine too.

Microdosing Earth Medicine: A Seasonal Practice in Whole Living is a curriculum that was born out of years of deep, sacred practice with the Mushroom Teachers and a deeply elemental life on this spinning jewel in outer space.

This practice calls us into awareness that this medicine is not here to make us better; instead, it opens a portal that, if we walk through and keep walking, can help bring us back into balance and wholeness.

This one-of-a-kind container is both protocol and practice. Inside you’ll learn how to:

  • Calibrate dosage & frequency and develop your own intuitive microdosing practice

  • Differentiate intention from expectations and learn to discern intuition from external conditioning

  • Work energetically with the mushrooms, elements, and the medicine of Winter

  • Integrate experiences you have on the medicine into your life off the medicine

  • Hold space for community on the medicine path

“We are now fully engaged in the Sixth Major Extinction (“6 X”) on planet Earth. Our biosphere is quickly changing, eroding the life support systems that have allowed humans to ascend. Unless we put into action policies and technologies that can cause a course correction in the very near future, species diversity will continue to plummet, with humans not only being the primary cause, but one of the victims. What can we do? Fungi, particularly mushrooms, offer some powerful, practical solutions, which can be put into practice now.”

- Paul Stamets

Opening ourselves up to the lessons that the mushrooms and the Earth have to teach us requires that we widen the aperture of our awareness to the world around and within us. This three month curriculum is a wonderful way to relearn, remember, reclaim, and revive your deep knowing and capacity to live well.
